Wednesday, February 2

Central Plains Capitals 4 at Pembina Valley Hawks 9

Jory Mullin last weeks player of the week had a five point night, including a goal, Mitch Doell had 2 goals and an assist in the one sided win. The Hawks took period leads of 2-0 and 6-1, en route to jumping past the Gougars and the Wheat Kings, into 1st place, the first time since November 22. The other scorers were Jared Morris, Michael Sofillas, Jeff Clark, Brett Pinkerton,Brock Vanderveen and Dallas Holenski. The Capitals markesmen, were Jordan Penner, Tyler Durdle, Ryan Laing and Tyler McKay. Reed Peters made 30 saves for the Hawks, while Kyle McGibney made 38 for the Caps.

Brandon Wheat Kings 2 at Winnipeg Thrashers 3

The loss to Brandon, allowed the PV Hawks to move into first place in the East and the win for the Thrashers keeps their chances of catching the Lightning alive. The Thrashers scored twice in the 1st on goals by Colton Kalinski, his 1st of two and Matthew Garvey. Jesse Linner tallied for Brandon in the 2nd, with Kalinski scoring a short handed goal, for what would be the eventual winner. Just over a minute later Cody Nelson brought the Wheat Kings back to within one,but they could not get the equalizer past Adam Iwan, who made 40 saves. Ryan Thorpe made 22 saves in the Kings net.

Tuesday, February 2

Parkland Rangers 4 at Yellowhead Chiefs 3 – Shoot Out Linemates Curtis Davidson (2G& A) and Derek Falloon (G& 2A) were the dominant players on offence for the Rangers. Ryan Pulock scored the lone goal of the shoot out for the win, Jayson Argue made 26 saves for the win. Curtis Oliver scored both his goals in the 1st for a 2-0 lead. Kyle McLeod (G&A), scored in the 2nd, as did Davidson for a Chiefs 3-1 lead. Falloon’s goal in the 3rd tied the game with 4:02 left. Mat Wazney made 27 saves for the Chiefs.

WEEK 17

Sunday, January 31

Winnipeg Thrashers 4 at Pembina Valley Hawks 5 The Thrashers took a 1-0 1st period leads, with thw Hawks leading 2-1 after the 2nd , before the thrashers lead again 4-3 in the 3rd with 3:19 left. Jory Mullin, the hero of the game for the game scored his 3rd and 4th goals in the last minute to tie and win the game. Brian Michaels scored the other. The Thrashers got goals from Connor Lockhart, Scott Bauer, Parker Thomas and Colton Kalinski. Tyler Oswald got the win making 31 saves as Mathew McIntosh made 42 for the Thrashers.

Norman Northstars 0 at Brandon Wheat Kings 6 Riley Feser made 18 saves for the shoot out win, as Matt Brykaliuk and Wheaton King scored twice, with Rikki Alston and Joel Edmuundson notched the others. Ryan Delorme made 38 saves for the Northstars.

Eastman Selects 5 at Parkland Rangers 2 After a scoreless 1st, the Selects took a 2-0 2nd period lead. Tim Rollins and Russell Trudea each scored twice and Erik Pushka into an empty net. Ryan Poluk and Derek Falloon tallied for the Rangers. Brendan Edie made 34 saves for the win and Deagan Delaurier and Jayson Argue made 43.

Southwest Cougars 4 at Central Plains Capitals 0 Cole Olson scored twice and assisted on the 3rd. with Sutton nOlson and Reid Gow tallies once and added a couple of assists, to help Brian Archibald get the win, as he made 25 saves. Brian Tait played 36 minutes and made 15 saves and then Kyle Gibson made the ssame numer in 24 minutes.

These are available at the end of the season with all the records from the beginning of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League (1986) for the league and for the individual teams.
